简介：甚少有电影提到二次大战美国的亚洲人集中营的事。本片就是少数中的少数，透过美国人和亚洲人的眼同时看见历史上的痛。一九三0年代，在纽约工会组织工作杰克（丹尼斯·奎德饰），有天在一桩爆炸案发生后，发现自己一直相信工会，其实也不一定全是对的。于是他离开美国东岸，来到洛杉矶。一名住在小日本区的日本妇人收留了他，让他在她的店里工作，这时杰克对她的女儿莉莉一见钟情，两人长久相处下，决定结婚，但当时加州的法律对于异族婚姻有相当多的限制，唯恐外国人藉此取得绿卡。为了想拥有合法的婚姻，他们索性搬到西雅图定居。

tle is a play on the phrase At Her Majestys Pleasure (the show was performed at Her Majestys Theatre, London). In America, the film was originally called Monty Python Meets Beyond the Fringe.This show came to be considered part of the Secret Policemans Ball series of shows that it inspired, although it pre-dated the first show in the series by three years.The event was organized by a team of three: Monty Python member John Cleese, Amnestys Assistant Director Peter Luff and Transatlantic Records executive Martin Lewis. It featured the cream of Britains comedic talent of the era, setting a precedent that would inspire many subsequent Amnesty galas, as well as Comic Relief. The concept was also the inspiration of similar events, also in aid of Amnesty International in countries around the world as far away as Australia, in the case of the Stand Up For Your Rights Comedy Galas.The film consists of both on-stage and back-stage footage, taken from all three nights of the run (1–3 April 1976).Luff and Lewis collaborated on producing the successor show - video-taped in 1977 as The Mermaid Frolics.
